Oi família!
Thanks for all the e-mails! So this week was pretty good! We baptized a young man named edgar on Saturday! And no, I didn´t realize that it was valentines day until we arrived in the house that night and I looked at the calendar but happy valentines day!!!!!! I hope everyone had a good valentines day and that all went well!
No I haven´t received the package yet but I probably will soon. It depends when the zl´s go to João Pessoa. But all is good and about the shoes. All is good. I never got my other pair from the guy because I got transferred, but elder Hyatt lives with Elder matos, and Elder matos is in my zone and I see him every week. So Elder Hyatt said he´d get them and send them to me. So, other than that all is good.
Oh Michael, I finally sent your present last week on Tuesday. So you should get it in a little bit. Probably a month ish. Maybe sooner, I dunno. I hope that you like it. Let me know when you get ok. Hey and parabéns on your band thing! For you and dallin!! You guys are awesome!!! Good luck in enterprise!!! You’ll win for sure!!!
So I saw a monkey the other day! He was on the wall next to our house. He is really small! I took pics and I will send them if this comp lets me. I have been trying to but it has problems.
So dad, that was pretty cool that you were writing in português! What is this “crash course” of yours because your portugues is better than mine already! Or did Tim help you out. Anyways, it was pretty good. You only had a few errors I can’t believe you have to sell the boat! That sucks! Just go way cheap on the wedding. Just kidding chanae but that does suck. So it sounds like chanae and bryce are staying busy with wedding stuff. Are you going to have the reception at home like you always talked about?
So Michael, Dallin, you guys have your eagles yet? You better! Especially because all you had was paper work to do! keep working on it, you’ll be happy you have it in the future when you are pushing your own kids to get it.
So the church put on a dance Saturday night and guess what song they were playing.. just guess.. Hesston likes it and you would never hear it at a church dance at home… the song that says “I kissed a g irl and I liked it”. ! serious! It’s really funny, because here a lot of people like American music but they don’t understand what it is saying, and that was proven Saturday night. I started laughing so hard when I heard it! And they played a couple of other songs that weren’t very good either. It was kinda funy
Hey chanae, guess what, bro Anderson from efy is in the book “teachings of the presidentes of the church, Joseph Smith” I saw his pic on Sunday and thought it was cool. Chpter 28.
So on Sunday I go to both wards! 6 hrs of church! Crazy huh! And yesterday I had to give a talk in sacrament meeting! They asked me Saturday night! Man I was freaking out, if you think a talk in English is hard, think again! My talk was on commitments to the lord and change. So I talked about callings in the ward, because the ward will be split here in a little while. But it went well. I had 15 min. and I finished my talk in about 10 min. so for the last five I just bore my testimony and kinda rambled but it was good.
So this week we are moving houses. Because our house is about 20 min from the church and our area, so that will be fun. Kinda. Well, that’s about all for me. I love you all so much!!! The church is true!!!! Read the bom everyday!!!! I love you all!!! good luck with the wedding plans!!:)

Baptisms and Tranfers.....February 9, 2009
Family,
Nossa!! Eu não acredito!! 3 mezes! that is so freakin close!!!! hahahaha, i knew you would get married while i was gone! and i knew it would be byrce!!! i have been praying for this for a while!!! Parabéns!!!!!! congratulations!!!!!!! that is so cool!!!! man, this week just keeps getting better and better!!!!!
wow!!, that is really cool! and i can totally see dad acting the same way as the dad on father of the bride! hahaha, man, this is so funny and awesome!!! when will you go through the temple? let me know everyhting! and be sure and send me a wedding invitation. all though i cant be there i would like to see it and pretend!:) ( and yes bryce, i know who dan jones is:))
so this week was so awesome!!!!!!! we finally baptized our family, Erivaldo, Neide, and Erik!!!! it was the best baptism meeting i have had yet! Man I love that family! they are so cool! and they have a goal to be sealed in the temple! awesome huh!! conserteza he will be a stake pres some day! we baptized them on saturday and then on sunday we baptized a young man named João! that was exciting to! 4 baptisms this week! it was so cool! the lord truly blessed us!!! so transfers were today. we got the phone call last night at 9:45 ish. and Elder hyatt thought he was going to leave for sure! so he said good bye to everyone! and guess what, i got transfered! i am so sad to leave my area! I love the people there, it was so depressing to pack my bags last night. but i hope i will like my new area. my new comp is elder maxfield. i will kill him this transfer( missionary slang for this is his last transfer in the mission, i'm not really kil ling him:)) in my new area i will be working with two wards! crazy huh! he said there is alot of work to do so that is good. so iam excited to work in a new area. a chance to change and be a different person! a better missionary! because nobody knows me, i can be who ever i want to be! that is the good thing with transfers:)
Parabéns michael and dallin! and good luck! i am way excited for you guys! that is so cool!!! you guys will win for sure! i am praying for you! so do you have a band name yet?
dad, about retention. yes they do do stuff. they need to do more but they do somethings. that is a big thing we are trying to push in the wards. because we baptize alot, but alot are falling away at the same time. in the ward i was in, they had a family home evening for all the new members in a members home. and depending on the mission, the missionaries plan activities to help but we aren't allowed to in this mission. so we depend on the ward to help. but that parable is exactly correct for here. you have to help the seed or they will die when the sun comes out.
well family, i want to send pics but this comp. doesn't have a jack so i might have to wait for next week. sorry. but i am doing good and i am really excited for all of you back home. good luck with the wedding plans and with everything! I love you all!! oh yeah, i am now in the city of ciudade do sol or city of sun:) sun city? it is in Natal still. actually really close to my other area. so it wont be to big of a change. I love you all!!!! I hope the lord will bless you!!!!!!! much love!!!

Hello Family!!!!
I hope you are ótimo! (awesome) i am doing really good! yesterday we had two baptisms! one man named João maria and a boy with 11yrs. named Ricardo. It was totally awesome! I am way excited for them! Elder Hyatt baptized João Maria and i baptized Ricardo. it took me three times to baptize him! his foot kept floating up. so finally the last time i stepped on his foot and baptized. it was kinda funny but the important thing is he was baptized!
we finally marked a baptismal date for erivaldo to. the family we are teaching! we will baptize them on saturday and then on sunday we have two more baptisms marked to and they are all firm ( can you say that?). so i am way escited for this week! 5 baptisms! i really hope the lord will help us and that they will all make it!
and yes mom, had i known it was expired milk i wouldn't have dranken it and gave the excuse of my sick stomach. and with the other, that was like the main dish so i would have eaten it anyways.
Transfers are this coming monday. My comp has almost 6 months in this area so he will probably be transfered. and i will stay here. which is good. i have been with my comp. for almost 3 months now. you could say i am ready for a change, but it will be sad at the same time. i really hope i get a brazilian comp. because my portugues will get a lot better. oh, there is a rm in my ward that served with elder hurd. cool huh.
and mikey, i forgot last week to answer your question. no, they don't have any cool candy down here. candy at home is a million times better! we have better sugar!!!!! and i have your present ready and i will probably send it on the 10 ish. thats when we get payed and we go to the correios. (post office)
and bryce, thanks so much for the advice! i love to receive advice from other missionaries to help me be better cause i am still learning alot of things. and thanks for your support!
so i will attach two photos today. either with this e-mail or the next but one of the baptism and one of the elders that came with me to the mission. we all met at a conference with elder cook. ( i remembered just barely:))
so that conference with Elder Cook was awesome!!!! i got to shake his hand to! i love to listen to the apostles! they speak with so much power! it is so cool! he talked on how we can be better missionaries, he talked about 4 things. loving the people, loving your comp. loving the mission pres. and loving the savior. it was really cool! and pres. talked to us for quiet a while to ! it was a really good conf. and Sister gave us some de worming pills:) that was fun! i have one more to take on wednesday. those things flush you out like crazy! the first day i took one i went to the bathroom 7 times i think. crappy huh:) but i am feeling better.

GOT MILK.....EXPIRED? January 26, 2009
Oi Família!!!!!
wow one more week has passed! so this week was pretty good! we had a baptism yesterday. a 13 yr old named Luciana. we are really excited for her! and we also had three other investigators go to church that are excited to be baptized and are really firm! we will baptize them next week! this week will be exciting, we have 7 people we can baptize this week. that family, we just need the dad, erivaldo, to follow his answer and decide to be baptized. we have been praying for him for a while becuse, like everyone, he needs to be baptized, and he knows its true, i think he is just scarred of change. but also his wife and son want to get baptize but the wife wants them both to wait for the husband. so we have been praying like crazing and hoping for a miracle these past two weeks. and we also have this young man named claudio and we need to talk to his mom about letting him be baptized. so i pray the lord will soften her heart.
oh yeah, i haven't been able to get any money out of my account yet because they don't have an atm that will read my card, like they don't have a international atm where we go to get money. so i will probably have to wait until i get transfered to get any out. but it's not a problem. i ended up with 40 reis left over this week and we got money today. so it's all good. and no i didn't buy shoes becase i will get mine back before i leave this area.
so chanae, why don't you have a job at tuacahn. did you quit or they don't need you because of the off season or something. I'm praying for you, and that you'll find a job.
hey, thank aunt lynette and dawna for the letters. i will write them back today but probably won't send it for another week because i already mailed my letters for this week. and also thank sister holmes. she has sent me a couple of cards!
oh, so on friday we are at this lady's house, and everytime we get ready to leave she always offers us stuff. ( side note.. i had just started to get regular again) so she asks about some milk or something. once again i can't understand. and so we say we will try it. but she brings a whole mug full! basically it is expired milk. they buy it, put it in the fridge for a day and then leave it out for a day! disgusting huh. yeah i was trying so hard not to throw up!!!! and of course, i am even worse then i was before! it sucks!!!! but other than that i am good!!!! i love you all!!! hey mike and dall, try not to get to mad and the refs okay:) jk. love ya!!!!!!!!!

Did you say BILLY GOAT!?................. January 19, 2009
oh família!!!
Como voces estão? i am very good, well better than yesterday:) i was a little sick yesterday. it was like the flu symptoms where i was just weak and had a headache, and diarrea:) but hoje i am better. so diarrea:) a little:) anyways, Mom, thanks for sending baking powder because they don't have baking soda here or cream of tartor. so thank you so much!! and thanks so much for sending a package! I feel bad because it costs a lot to send packages and i just want you guys to know that i am so gratefull for all you do for me!!!
so yesterday we didn't really have any one lined up for a baptism and we were praying like crazy that the lord would bless us with one, we even had the font filled up (the other elders had a baptism on saturday:)). but sadly we didn't have one. but the good news is that next week, we have 7 baptism for sure and possibly 8! we have that one family and then 2 young men way firm and then 2 primary kids and then a young woman that said if she received an answer today then she will be baptized! so the lord is truly blessing us! I am way excited!!
Billy Goat.. did you say Billy goat.... yup sure enough, it was billy goat! on saturday for our lunch a member prepared buchada for us. basically it is heart and liver and other stuff of a billy goat wrapped up in the stomach of the billy goat and she prepared the feet (hoofs) to. so apparently if you cook the hoofs long enough you can eat them, cause i did. i was blessed with not being able to understand her so i didn't find out what we ate till after when i asked my comp. but i must say.. it wasn't as bad as you would expect. yeah, the stomach was pretty gross but she had the heart and liver seasoned pretty good. but the feet were disgusting! but i made it through:)so yeah, probably one of the wierdest things i will eat here. it was a first for my comp to.
thanks so much for the poptarts! i have bun munching on them and they are sooo good!!! and also, hot wheels are a good thing to send for xmas because here it is 5 reis for one. so 2.50! crappy huh. and the kids love them.. so just a little side note:)
and dad asked how much money i get a week and stuff... i get 100 reis for 2 weeks. depending on what i buy and eat, i either spend it all or i end up with anywhere from 10-20 reis left over. just depends on what we do.
so i mentioned that i was trying to cut out english. yeah, its hard:) but i am learning faster and able to speak better now. and i am slowly forgetting english if you can believe it. sometimes i ask my comp, hey how do you say this in english, and he's like, i don't remember. :) it's pretty funny. yeah my comp just asked me how to spell something and after he said.. English is wierd! its pretty funny! and i found out why none of my fotos have been loading. they are all to big. so i changed the setting on my camera and i will try to send two fotos to see if it will work. one of my comp and then one of elder vieirra (on the bed) and elder matos ( the other 2 elders in our house)
well family, I love you all so much!!! the church is true!!! I know it with all my heart!!! through the atonement of our savior Jesus Cristo we have the oppurtunity to repent and we can all live together after this life with him! how great is this gospel!! ilove it!!!! I love you all so much!!! i hope you all in good health and alive!!!! micheal and dallin goodluck with your ward ball game this week!!!! I love you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
love your son, brother and elder!

January 12, 2009 email
okay, i haven't read all the e-mails yet because this comp is slower than crap and it is making me mad. we are at this crappy little comp. place and there are way better ones but the other elders district leader likes to come here because it is close to his house and we have to have a district leader to use internet. it is extremely annoying. but oh well. sorry, i had to vent a little. oh, and this comp wont load my pics so i wont be able to send any unless we go somewhere else. but okay:)...
so this week was pretty good. we had a baptism last week and i told you but then it erased my letter.but that was really exciting. his name is lukas and he is 14 yrs old. we are also workng with a really cool family and they will be baptized for sure! probably not this sunday but hopefully the next. this sunday we are planning on baptizing a named raquel. yes the same from way back when:) we were going to baptize her but then she went out and drank, and then after christmas she left and nobody knew where (her mom was traveling at the time and she was living with her step dad who basically doesn't care about her). but her mom is back and she is to. so we are going to talk to her today. and when me and my comp heard they were back we both knew immediately that we would baptize her this sunday!
so the work is going. we have a small group right now and need more people to teach but i'm sure we will find them.:) oh mom, i need your professional cooking skills and possibly grandmas and lynnettes. they don't have baking powder here. so what can you use to substitute for it. because i decided to make cornbread and pancakes anyways, and needless to say... they did not turn out:) but it was better than nothing:) so if you can find out that would be awesome and if not, it's all good:) and i was wondering if you would send my crepe recipe along with the sauce recipe, thanks :)
so we were teaching this guy a couple of days ago, and i decided to use bryces advice and teach how god and cristo are two seperate beings. (usually we just say joseph saw two beings during the first vision part) and when i testified of it the spirit was so strong! it was really cool! I am going to do it every time now! thanks for the advice bryce. and I really hope that he gets baptized, his name his João, john.
and yesterday, during church, none of our investigators had shown up when we began. i was so depressed and started praying like crazy. then about 10 min. into the class a family showed up! I was so excited and glad that H.F. answered my prayer. i have a strong testimony of prayer! it is so powerful!!

so this week was pretty good. we had a baptism last week and i told you but then it erased my letter.but that was really exciting. his name is lukas and he is 14 yrs old. we are also workng with a really cool family and they will be baptized for sure! probably not this sunday but hopefully the next. this sunday we are planning on baptizing a named raquel. yes the same from way back when:) we were going to baptize her but then she went out and drank, and then after christmas she left and nobody knew where (her mom was traveling at the time and she was living with her step dad who basically doesn't care about her). but her mom is back and she is to. so we are going to talk to her today. and when me and my comp heard they were back we both knew immediately that we would baptize her this sunday!
so the work is going. we have a small group right now and need more people to teach but i'm sure we will find them.:) oh mom, i need your professional cooking skills and possibly grandmas and lynnettes. they don't have baking powder here. so what can you use to substitute for it. because i decided to make cornbread and pancakes anyways, and needless to say... they did not turn out:) but it was better than nothing:) so if you can find out that would be awesome and if not, it's all good:) and i was wondering if you would send my crepe recipe along with the sauce recipe, thanks :)
so we were teaching this guy a couple of days ago, and i decided to use bryces advice and teach how god and cristo are two seperate beings.
