Oi Família!!!!!
wow one more week has passed! so this week was pretty good! we had a baptism yesterday. a 13 yr old named Luciana. we are really excited for her! and we also had three other investigators go to church that are excited to be baptized and are really firm! we will baptize them next week! this week will be exciting, we have 7 people we can baptize this week. that family, we just need the dad, erivaldo, to follow his answer and decide to be baptized. we have been praying for him for a while becuse, like everyone, he needs to be baptized, and he knows its true, i think he is just scarred of change. but also his wife and son want to get baptize but the wife wants them both to wait for the husband. so we have been praying like crazing and hoping for a miracle these past two weeks. and we also have this young man named claudio and we need to talk to his mom about letting him be baptized. so i pray the lord will soften her heart.
oh yeah, i haven't been able to get any money out of my account yet because they don't have an atm that will read my card, like they don't have a international atm where we go to get money. so i will probably have to wait until i get transfered to get any out. but it's not a problem. i ended up with 40 reis left over this week and we got money today. so it's all good. and no i didn't buy shoes becase i will get mine back before i leave this area.
so chanae, why don't you have a job at tuacahn. did you quit or they don't need you because of the off season or something. I'm praying for you, and that you'll find a job.
hey, thank aunt lynette and dawna for the letters. i will write them back today but probably won't send it for another week because i already mailed my letters for this week. and also thank sister holmes. she has sent me a couple of cards!
oh, so on friday we are at this lady's house, and everytime we get ready to leave she always offers us stuff. ( side note.. i had just started to get regular again) so she asks about some milk or something. once again i can't understand. and so we say we will try it. but she brings a whole mug full! basically it is expired milk. they buy it, put it in the fridge for a day and then leave it out for a day! disgusting huh. yeah i was trying so hard not to throw up!!!! and of course, i am even worse then i was before! it sucks!!!! but other than that i am good!!!! i love you all!!! hey mike and dall, try not to get to mad and the refs okay:) jk. love ya!!!!!!!!!

Did you say BILLY GOAT!?................. January 19, 2009
oh família!!!
Como voces estão? i am very good, well better than yesterday:) i was a little sick yesterday. it was like the flu symptoms where i was just weak and had a headache, and diarrea:) but hoje i am better. so diarrea:) a little:) anyways, Mom, thanks for sending baking powder because they don't have baking soda here or cream of tartor. so thank you so much!! and thanks so much for sending a package! I feel bad because it costs a lot to send packages and i just want you guys to know that i am so gratefull for all you do for me!!!
so yesterday we didn't really have any one lined up for a baptism and we were praying like crazy that the lord would bless us with one, we even had the font filled up (the other elders had a baptism on saturday:)). but sadly we didn't have one. but the good news is that next week, we have 7 baptism for sure and possibly 8! we have that one family and then 2 young men way firm and then 2 primary kids and then a young woman that said if she received an answer today then she will be baptized! so the lord is truly blessing us! I am way excited!!
Billy Goat.. did you say Billy goat.... yup sure enough, it was billy goat! on saturday for our lunch a member prepared buchada for us. basically it is heart and liver and other stuff of a billy goat wrapped up in the stomach of the billy goat and she prepared the feet (hoofs) to. so apparently if you cook the hoofs long enough you can eat them, cause i did. i was blessed with not being able to understand her so i didn't find out what we ate till after when i asked my comp. but i must say.. it wasn't as bad as you would expect. yeah, the stomach was pretty gross but she had the heart and liver seasoned pretty good. but the feet were disgusting! but i made it through:)so yeah, probably one of the wierdest things i will eat here. it was a first for my comp to.
thanks so much for the poptarts! i have bun munching on them and they are sooo good!!! and also, hot wheels are a good thing to send for xmas because here it is 5 reis for one. so 2.50! crappy huh. and the kids love them.. so just a little side note:)
and dad asked how much money i get a week and stuff... i get 100 reis for 2 weeks. depending on what i buy and eat, i either spend it all or i end up with anywhere from 10-20 reis left over. just depends on what we do.
so i mentioned that i was trying to cut out english. yeah, its hard:) but i am learning faster and able to speak better now. and i am slowly forgetting english if you can believe it. sometimes i ask my comp, hey how do you say this in english, and he's like, i don't remember. :) it's pretty funny. yeah my comp just asked me how to spell something and after he said.. English is wierd! its pretty funny! and i found out why none of my fotos have been loading. they are all to big. so i changed the setting on my camera and i will try to send two fotos to see if it will work. one of my comp and then one of elder vieirra (on the bed) and elder matos ( the other 2 elders in our house)
well family, I love you all so much!!! the church is true!!! I know it with all my heart!!! through the atonement of our savior Jesus Cristo we have the oppurtunity to repent and we can all live together after this life with him! how great is this gospel!! ilove it!!!! I love you all so much!!! i hope you all in good health and alive!!!! micheal and dallin goodluck with your ward ball game this week!!!! I love you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
love your son, brother and elder!

okay, i haven't read all the e-mails yet because this comp is slower than crap and it is making me mad. we are at this crappy little comp. place and there are way better ones but the other elders district leader likes to come here because it is close to his house and we have to have a district leader to use internet. it is extremely annoying. but oh well. sorry, i had to vent a little. oh, and this comp wont load my pics so i wont be able to send any unless we go somewhere else. but okay:)...
so this week was pretty good. we had a baptism last week and i told you but then it erased my letter.but that was really exciting. his name is lukas and he is 14 yrs old. we are also workng with a really cool family and they will be baptized for sure! probably not this sunday but hopefully the next. this sunday we are planning on baptizing a named raquel. yes the same from way back when:) we were going to baptize her but then she went out and drank, and then after christmas she left and nobody knew where (her mom was traveling at the time and she was living with her step dad who basically doesn't care about her). but her mom is back and she is to. so we are going to talk to her today. and when me and my comp heard they were back we both knew immediately that we would baptize her this sunday!
so the work is going. we have a small group right now and need more people to teach but i'm sure we will find them.:) oh mom, i need your professional cooking skills and possibly grandmas and lynnettes. they don't have baking powder here. so what can you use to substitute for it. because i decided to make cornbread and pancakes anyways, and needless to say... they did not turn out:) but it was better than nothing:) so if you can find out that would be awesome and if not, it's all good:) and i was wondering if you would send my crepe recipe along with the sauce recipe, thanks :)
so we were teaching this guy a couple of days ago, and i decided to use bryces advice and teach how god and cristo are two seperate beings. (usually we just say joseph saw two beings during the first vision part) and when i testified of it the spirit was so strong! it was really cool! I am going to do it every time now! thanks for the advice bryce. and I really hope that he gets baptized, his name his João, john.
and yesterday, during church, none of our investigators had shown up when we began. i was so depressed and started praying like crazy. then about 10 min. into the class a family showed up! I was so excited and glad that H.F. answered my prayer. i have a strong testimony of prayer! it is so powerful!!
so mikey, i know what i will send you for christmas, late, but it might take a while cause last time i tried to get money out of my account it wouldn't let me but i will try again to day. so sorry. and that sounds like fun that you are going on a date com chelsea.:)
well family, i love you all so much!!! and i will answer more of your questions in letters cause it is easier! i fill really rushed using the internet. sorry. but i love you all soo much!!!!! and i pray for you all alwys!!!! the Church is true!!!! I know it and i know i could never deny it!!!! rember to read the book of mormon everyday!!!! oh, and uma coisa cool, this week i have been working on cutting english completely and it is amazing how much the lord is helping me. my portugues is already better. set goals and ask the lord for his help and if you have Faith, anything is possible! and i know this is true!!!
I love you all so much!!!!!

Feliz Natal!!!!! December 15, 2008 email
oi family!!!!!
thank you everyone for writing me!!! and thanks for all the letters. i get mail about every 2-3 weeks ish, it depends on when the zone leaders go to joão pessoa, so this week sat to be exact, i got 11 letters!!it was sweet!!!!!! thank you so much!!!! oh, and yes mom, :) i figured that the cars and yo yos were for kids, but i have to admit that i have been playing with the yoyo. :) and thanks for the recipes dad! we can't find dry ice, but we can make the other one, and yeah, i really don't like yeast rootbeer so i am excited you had a different one!!! oh thanks for all the instant breakfast to!!!! i am way stoked to drink it! now all i have to do is buy a cup bigg enough to put it in, and then find some decent milk to drink it with, but i am totally stoked!!! and thanks chanae for the big w! i love receiving it and getting caught up with the family!
just a reminder... you guys need to call here at 4 o´clock my time.. so 12 your time because i can't call out. so i hope it isn't a problem. i sent the number in my last e-mail.
So this week has been another week. alot the same. except we have done alot of walking this week. more than usual because our group of investigators is small and we didn't have very many appointments and alot of the ones we did have fell through. but I am doing good. sunday we had two investigators show up to church. Raquel and her little brother anderson. we have the baptismal date for next week. Raquel thinks it's a little early but people usually say that when they have doubts. so we just need to throw away the doubts and then get her baptized. it's kinda crazy how quickly we baptize people. in the first lesson we commit them to baptism usually in a week and a half to two weeks. just enough time to get them to church two times. and the second time is usually the baptism. crazy huh. but it works. and Mission pres knows what he is doing so we follow the rules and try to baptize like crazy. something interesting pres said.. we have two main purposes here on the mission.. 1st is ourselves. who we want to be when we go home. 2nd is to baptize. i never really thought about the first one before. like i knew i would change (hopefully:)) but i didn't count it as a reason to be here really. interesting..
but the work is going. its funny, in the ctm i thought i was doing so good at portugues, but once i got here i realized i don't know anyhting. but with the lords help i am slowly learning:)
oh, so i don't remember the pin number for my debit card:) so could you please send it:) and just so you know, i wont e-mail next week because of the phone call. oh another thought. i was wondering if you could send me a card reader to go in the usb port, so i can send pics home over the net, my comp has one and i might use it, but that would be nice to have. oh dad... i almost forgot.. i thought you might like to know.. today i bought 10 bananas, 5 mangos and a cantalope for 3 reais, so like a buck and a half! and they are all fresh ready to be eaten! cool huh!:) oh and i am going to buy a hammock today! I am totally stoked!
umm.. so we are teaching this way cathlic family, and they are so cool! they have amazing love for each other and are way close. but they have a hard time to be willing to follow an answer from god if they get one. it kills me, if god tells you to do something, what are you going to do.. do it! but thay are all moly about it (wishy washy). It's partly because they think the lds church is basically the same as the cathlic, all though we point out differences in baptism and like mary for instense, they are like, não é mesmo coisa. (same thing) it is really frustrating cause i love this family and i just want them to know the truth and get baptized. so hopefully the spirit can work on them:)
Mom and Dad.. thanks for all the e-mails and letters and for all of the love and support you give me! I love you both so much and am so grateful for all that you do for me! thank you so much! I am totally excited for the phone call next thursday!!!! I can't wait to talk to you all. :) and i was wondering if you could send a recipe for pancakes and cornbread:)
chanae-thanks so much for all the letters and for the hand turkeys! i made a hand turkey and he is an abomination!!! i was going to send some pics but it's not working.. so maybe next time! but good luck with the test and graduation!!! and yes my speakers have a jack for a cd player and i have a cord here as well:) and do we have a jericho road cd...that would be fun to;) but don't worry about it cause its not that important.
mikey- sup bro!! hows life treatin ya? whats new? so the other day i saw a kid that looked alot like you. it was wierd. but only from far away:)
dallin- dude! don't kill yourselfe with all that running! :) thats crazy man, you are awesome! 50 miles a week ,that would kill me! keep working hard to reach your goals!! and that is way cool about you writing music!!! i am way jealous man!!! i miss music! but it's all good! good luck!!
crap.. i was gonna write a letter to the relief society but i am out of time! please tell them thanks and that i will write next week or send a letter. sorry...
I love you all so much!!!!!!!thanks for being the best family in the world!!!!! thanks for all of your love and support and for all that you do for me!!! wish derek good luck for me!!! merry christmas!!! drinks some hot cocoa for me and sing some christmas songs!!!! much love!!!!

to answer some of your questoins.... yes i am about a 45 min walk to the beach. it is not in my area, but if you walk about 20 min you can see it! it's really cool! it is summer right now! oppisite of home. there are a ton of fruit trees. we have two coconut trees in our backyard that we get coconuts from and drink the milk. it is way good! straight off the tree! they have a ton of mango trees tambem! kids play with anything and everything. about the same back home. a big thing is home made kits! they are really cool! I had a member give me one! all the homes are made out of these weird bricks. nothing is made out of wood here. it's weird! but cool! i will take some pics and send them home! love you all so much!!!!!!!

December 8, 2008 email
Hello Everyone!!!!!
Thanks so much for the e-mails! it sounds like everyone is doing good... and that dad is doing better!:) I'm doing awesome.. okay this beginning part will be random cause i wrote things down i wanted to say and i will write them first.
primero... i had the oppurtunity to baptize yesterday! it was really cool. probably the easiest one i will have all mission. some other elders here in natal taught this young man, lindomar, and found out he lives in our ward, so they gave us the reference about 2 days before his baptismal date. so we met with him to make sure he was ready and he was totally ready! it was cool! then right after the baptism we had to run to a different chapel about 30 min away to meet with Presidente. it sucked because i was still wet from the baptism, but the meeting went good:) have i mentioned that here, the sun rises at 5 and sets at 6. i don't know if it is the same at home but it is really wierd. cause if i wake up at 5:30 it is already bright. wierd...
segundo..christmas call.. you guys need to call me. I hope that is okay. on christmas day, 25th, and can you call at 12:00, because that will be 4:00 for us. i hope it is okay. and it is only 40 min long. sorry but thats the rules.:( and i would like to talk to everyone! so yeah!!
terceiro...thanks for the package!!! I got to my meeting and they told me i had another package! I was totally excited!!! and i got a bunch of letters to!!! thanks so much!!! and of course i opened it right away to see what was inside.. Thanks so much for the ROOT extract!!! we are totally excited because they don't have root here!!!!! Yes!!!! question, dad, do you just follow the instructions on the back? and we aren't sure if we can find dry ice so we are willing to lower ourselves to yeast if we have to. and so if we have to, how do you make it with that. and I loved the stickers!!! that is one thing i have come to find that missionaries love!!!! they are awesom!! I love all of them!!! i already covered my planer in them!!! oh, and don't send anymore popcorn because no one has microwaves. not even the church. i think i know of 2 people that own them. but i am going to try to make it anyways. is it possible to make on the stove top in a pan with oil?
oh, so i realized, that now i know how a g irl feels more or less. emotion wise... one minute i am way happy cause we taught a lession and they were totally receptive and said they would be baptized, then the next house they tell you to leave or something and you get totally depressed. like sunday for instense. i was totally stoked for the baptism! but then none of our investigators showed up for church and so i was way down because they have to go to church 2 to get baptizd. it sucked. so according to paper we don't have a baptism next week. but we hope and pray the lord will provide a way to baptize next week like he did this week with lindo mar. so my fingers are crossed. and yeah, it is really wierd and tiring to feel all these emotions everyday. at the end of everyday i am physically emotionally and spiritually tired. but i love it! it is the best work ever!! so did you guys receive my memory card yet. i hope so.
so dallin... what this about you writing music? that is totally awesome! so you are getting it recorded like on a cd? pretty cool dude!
michael... she's a sophmore....hahaha.. thats pretty funny:) dude, that totally sucks about the truck man. bummer dude. I feel for you.;)

Elder wilson!!!
I feel for you.;)
Mom and Dad.. thanks for all you do to help me. from letters and emails to the packages. you both are amazing and i am so honored to be your child. thanks for all of your love and support! I pray for you both every night along with the family. I hope all is well at home! Love you!!!

my book for you all!!!:) sorry its so long:) December 1 ,2008
Sup Family!! thanks for all the e-mails!!! it sounds like evryone is doing good!
thanks so much for the package!! on tuesday at my zone meeting i received two packages!! one from you guys with presents in it and the other from the ward!! I opened the ward one first and was totally excited about the candy bars!! and the peanut butter!! and when i got ready to open the 2nd one my comp wouldn´t let me and told me I had to wait for natal. so i said okay. then that night i remembered my oil was probably in it so i opened it up and got it out. and i am very excited to open my presents! a few things i found out about packages. yes everything will melt more or less... chocolate, jolley ranchers. but they all still taste amazing!! the ward sent some chocolate bars and some jolley ranchers, i was going to save the chocolate bars for Christmas but yesterday was way depressing ( i´ll talk about it in a little), so i threw two in the fridge for me and my comp. but when we ate them we realized then had a little bit of a soapy taste...so i found out, if you send soap and candy bars put the soap or the candy bars in a plastic baggy. but don't worry because they were still amazing!!! and number two, if you send jolley ranchers, leave them in the original package, because our house is infested with ants and i put the package under my bed that night and when i woke up the ants had found the jolley ranchers. but no worries! i battled them off. oh and thank the ward for the socks! i was out of socks that night and had to wash but i knew they wouldn't have time to dry, and luckily enough, new socks came just in time!
oh yeah.. michael.. who the blaze is brittni... all i know is that she gives you music.. come on give me more than that...:)...oh yeah chanae.. i can see orion every night:) oh and woody the wood pecker is huge down here.. weird huh. his name is pica pau.
so we didn't have a baptism last night because he has to wait for a while to find out if he can be baptized which is really sad cause Ricardo was soo excited, and he and his newly wed wife want to get marrried in the temple... yes, we had a wedding on saturday night!! it was awesome! my first wedding! his wife.. thelma is a member and fell away for about 8 years and now we are reactivating her and trying to get ricardo baptized... so that was way depressing when we find out he couldn't be baptized Sunday, but I'm pretty sure he will be able to.. so now we just wait.
yesterday was depressing because we are working with two new people.. Raquele and Ivanilda... and they both said they would go to church but they weren't there and since they were not there we can't count them as new investigators and they can't be baptized this coming sunday cause they have to go to church twice before baptism. so no baptisms this coming week either unless ricardo can be. you know the scripture where it says that ammon and his brethren trembled at the thought of losing one soul, well i think i am beginning to feel the same thing for my investigators. i get so down when they tell us to leave or reject us. it just sucks. cause basically, after we teach them, they have to choose salvation or damnation more or less. either get baptized or turned away when they know it's true. it kinda sucks, but when they accepted, wow! it is the best feeling in the world. my favorite thing to do is end the day on lesson 1 and they comite to pray and read! it is so cool! i feel so invigorated and ready to go! it is awesome!
so I have my first snake investigator. a snake is a g irl that likes and hits on you more or less. Raquele, she is thelma and ricardo's friend, she is 17 years old. and she scares the crap out of me! she is really nice and a really cute and she is always looking at me.. oh, i always get way nervous and start praying like crazy. hahaha, it's really funny, she's harmless, but i think it is because i'm not used to being around s, so she scares me. but don't worry :) it's no temptation because i am here to serve the lord:) i just think it is funny and figured you guys would like a good laugh. :)
so for the wedding, i let ricardo borrow my shoes, and having just been wearing one to save the others after these wear out, but i let him borrow my good ones and i haven't got them back yet. :) so hopefully i do:) but no worrys:) i know the lord is watching out for me and my feet:) and if i do have to get more in the future i can get them from the mission office. and yes, just keep sending the letters to the mission office. that will be easier.
sorry this is a freakin book! i just have alot to say i guess. yeah when i left the ctm i went to the mission office for instruction, then that night we ate dinner at sister's house then we slept at some other missionaries house. then the next day left for natal. umm.. oh yeah.. dad... for lunch today (lunch is the big meal here) we made hawiian haystacks, and we had Fresh pineaple and Fresh mango juice!!!! it was so good!!! Here you can buy 4 mangos for 2 heis, which is like a 1 dollar. and they are fresh and big and amazing!!!!!!!! and the pineaple are so good!!! wow!!! they have awesome fruit!! and the banana's are amazing to!!!!! Wow!!! well, sorry i didn't send a letter today , but i should get some mail tomorrow then i can reply to it and send one as soon as possible. I love you all!! thanks for all you do!!!!!
