oi family!!!!!
thank you everyone for writing me!!! and thanks for all the letters. i get mail about every 2-3 weeks ish, it depends on when the zone leaders go to joão pessoa, so this week sat to be exact, i got 11 letters!!it was sweet!!!!!! thank you so much!!!! oh, and yes mom, :) i figured that the cars and yo yos were for kids, but i have to admit that i have been playing with the yoyo. :) and thanks for the recipes dad! we can't find dry ice, but we can make the other one, and yeah, i really don't like yeast rootbeer so i am excited you had a different one!!! oh thanks for all the instant breakfast to!!!! i am way stoked to drink it! now all i have to do is buy a cup bigg enough to put it in, and then find some decent milk to drink it with, but i am totally stoked!!! and thanks chanae for the big w! i love receiving it and getting caught up with the family!
just a reminder... you guys need to call here at 4 o´clock my time.. so 12 your time because i can't call out. so i hope it isn't a problem. i sent the number in my last e-mail.
So this week has been another week. alot the same. except we have done alot of walking this week. more than usual because our group of investigators is small and we didn't have very many appointments and alot of the ones we did have fell through. but I am doing good. sunday we had two investigators show up to church. Raquel and her little brother anderson. we have the baptismal date for next week. Raquel thinks it's a little early but people usually say that when they have doubts. so we just need to throw away the doubts and then get her baptized. it's kinda crazy how quickly we baptize people. in the first lesson we commit them to baptism usually in a week and a half to two weeks. just enough time to get them to church two times. and the second time is usually the baptism. crazy huh. but it works. and Mission pres knows what he is doing so we follow the rules and try to baptize like crazy. something interesting pres said.. we have two main purposes here on the mission.. 1st is ourselves. who we want to be when we go home. 2nd is to baptize. i never really thought about the first one before. like i knew i would change (hopefully:)) but i didn't count it as a reason to be here really. interesting..
but the work is going. its funny, in the ctm i thought i was doing so good at portugues, but once i got here i realized i don't know anyhting. but with the lords help i am slowly learning:)
oh, so i don't remember the pin number for my debit card:) so could you please send it:) and just so you know, i wont e-mail next week because of the phone call. oh another thought. i was wondering if you could send me a card reader to go in the usb port, so i can send pics home over the net, my comp has one and i might use it, but that would be nice to have. oh dad... i almost forgot.. i thought you might like to know.. today i bought 10 bananas, 5 mangos and a cantalope for 3 reais, so like a buck and a half! and they are all fresh ready to be eaten! cool huh!:) oh and i am going to buy a hammock today! I am totally stoked!
umm.. so we are teaching this way cathlic family, and they are so cool! they have amazing love for each other and are way close. but they have a hard time to be willing to follow an answer from god if they get one. it kills me, if god tells you to do something, what are you going to do.. do it! but thay are all moly about it (wishy washy). It's partly because they think the lds church is basically the same as the cathlic, all though we point out differences in baptism and like mary for instense, they are like, não é mesmo coisa. (same thing) it is really frustrating cause i love this family and i just want them to know the truth and get baptized. so hopefully the spirit can work on them:)
Mom and Dad.. thanks for all the e-mails and letters and for all of the love and support you give me! I love you both so much and am so grateful for all that you do for me! thank you so much! I am totally excited for the phone call next thursday!!!! I can't wait to talk to you all. :) and i was wondering if you could send a recipe for pancakes and cornbread:)
chanae-thanks so much for all the letters and for the hand turkeys! i made a hand turkey and he is an abomination!!! i was going to send some pics but it's not working.. so maybe next time! but good luck with the test and graduation!!! and yes my speakers have a jack for a cd player and i have a cord here as well:) and do we have a jericho road cd...that would be fun to;) but don't worry about it cause its not that important.
mikey- sup bro!! hows life treatin ya? whats new? so the other day i saw a kid that looked alot like you. it was wierd. but only from far away:)
dallin- dude! don't kill yourselfe with all that running! :) thats crazy man, you are awesome! 50 miles a week ,that would kill me! keep working hard to reach your goals!! and that is way cool about you writing music!!! i am way jealous man!!! i miss music! but it's all good! good luck!!
crap.. i was gonna write a letter to the relief society but i am out of time! please tell them thanks and that i will write next week or send a letter. sorry...

December 8, 2008 email
Hello Everyone!!!!!
Thanks so much for the e-mails! it sounds like everyone is doing good... and that dad is doing better!:) I'm doing awesome.. okay this beginning part will be random cause i wrote things down i wanted to say and i will write them first.
primero... i had the oppurtunity to baptize yesterday! it was really cool. probably the easiest one i will have all mission. some other elders here in natal taught this young man, lindomar, and found out he lives in our ward, so they gave us the reference about 2 days before his baptismal date. so we met with him to make sure he was ready and he was totally ready! it was cool! then right after the baptism we had to run to a different chapel about 30 min away to meet with Presidente. it sucked because i was still wet from the baptism, but the meeting went good:) have i mentioned that here, the sun rises at 5 and sets at 6. i don't know if it is the same at home but it is really wierd. cause if i wake up at 5:30 it is already bright. wierd...
segundo..christmas call.. you guys need to call me. I hope that is okay. on christmas day, 25th, and can you call at 12:00, because that will be 4:00 for us. i hope it is okay. and it is only 40 min long. sorry but thats the rules.:( and i would like to talk to everyone! so yeah!!
terceiro...thanks for the package!!! I got to my meeting and they told me i had another package! I was totally excited!!! and i got a bunch of letters to!!! thanks so much!!! and of course i opened it right away to see what was inside.. Thanks so much for the ROOT extract!!! we are totally excited because they don't have root here!!!!! Yes!!!! question, dad, do you just follow the instructions on the back? and we aren't sure if we can find dry ice so we are willing to lower ourselves to yeast if we have to. and so if we have to, how do you make it with that. and I loved the stickers!!! that is one thing i have come to find that missionaries love!!!! they are awesom!! I love all of them!!! i already covered my planer in them!!! oh, and don't send anymore popcorn because no one has microwaves. not even the church. i think i know of 2 people that own them. but i am going to try to make it anyways. is it possible to make on the stove top in a pan with oil?
oh, so i realized, that now i know how a g irl feels more or less. emotion wise... one minute i am way happy cause we taught a lession and they were totally receptive and said they would be baptized, then the next house they tell you to leave or something and you get totally depressed. like sunday for instense. i was totally stoked for the baptism! but then none of our investigators showed up for church and so i was way down because they have to go to church 2 to get baptizd. it sucked. so according to paper we don't have a baptism next week. but we hope and pray the lord will provide a way to baptize next week like he did this week with lindo mar. so my fingers are crossed. and yeah, it is really wierd and tiring to feel all these emotions everyday. at the end of everyday i am physically emotionally and spiritually tired. but i love it! it is the best work ever!! so did you guys receive my memory card yet. i hope so.
so dallin... what this about you writing music? that is totally awesome! so you are getting it recorded like on a cd? pretty cool dude!
michael... she's a sophmore....hahaha.. thats pretty funny:) dude, that totally sucks about the truck man. bummer dude. I feel for you.;)
Mom and Dad.. thanks for all you do to help me. from letters and emails to the packages. you both are amazing and i am so honored to be your child. thanks for all of your love and support! I pray for you both every night along with the family. I hope all is well at home! Love you!!!
chanae... what are you ! no e-mail.. just kidding:) its all good! love you chanae!
um.... i thought of a few other things i would like but don't need:) best two years sound track (in my room somewhere) and the dvd (burned of course) we can watch church movies soo... my comp has work and the glory..crazy huh... and a bunch others like the testaments and the joseph smith movie. if you haven't seen the later, watch it! it is amazing!!
Love you all!!! hope you are all happy and well and have the christmas spirit with you!!!! Much love!!!

my book for you all!!!:) sorry its so long:) December 1 ,2008
Sup Family!! thanks for all the e-mails!!! it sounds like evryone is doing good!
thanks so much for the package!! on tuesday at my zone meeting i received two packages!! one from you guys with presents in it and the other from the ward!! I opened the ward one first and was totally excited about the candy bars!! and the peanut butter!! and when i got ready to open the 2nd one my comp wouldn´t let me and told me I had to wait for natal. so i said okay. then that night i remembered my oil was probably in it so i opened it up and got it out. and i am very excited to open my presents! a few things i found out about packages. yes everything will melt more or less... chocolate, jolley ranchers. but they all still taste amazing!! the ward sent some chocolate bars and some jolley ranchers, i was going to save the chocolate bars for Christmas but yesterday was way depressing ( i´ll talk about it in a little), so i threw two in the fridge for me and my comp. but when we ate them we realized then had a little bit of a soapy taste...so i found out, if you send soap and candy bars put the soap or the candy bars in a plastic baggy. but don't worry because they were still amazing!!! and number two, if you send jolley ranchers, leave them in the original package, because our house is infested with ants and i put the package under my bed that night and when i woke up the ants had found the jolley ranchers. but no worries! i battled them off. oh and thank the ward for the socks! i was out of socks that night and had to wash but i knew they wouldn't have time to dry, and luckily enough, new socks came just in time!
oh yeah.. michael.. who the blaze is brittni... all i know is that she gives you music.. come on give me more than that...:)...oh yeah chanae.. i can see orion every night:) oh and woody the wood pecker is huge down here.. weird huh. his name is pica pau.
so we didn't have a baptism last night because he has to wait for a while to find out if he can be baptized which is really sad cause Ricardo was soo excited, and he and his newly wed wife want to get marrried in the temple... yes, we had a wedding on saturday night!! it was awesome! my first wedding! his wife.. thelma is a member and fell away for about 8 years and now we are reactivating her and trying to get ricardo baptized... so that was way depressing when we find out he couldn't be baptized Sunday, but I'm pretty sure he will be able to.. so now we just wait.
yesterday was depressing because we are working with two new people.. Raquele and Ivanilda... and they both said they would go to church but they weren't there and since they were not there we can't count them as new investigators and they can't be baptized this coming sunday cause they have to go to church twice before baptism. so no baptisms this coming week either unless ricardo can be. you know the scripture where it says that ammon and his brethren trembled at the thought of losing one soul, well i think i am beginning to feel the same thing for my investigators. i get so down when they tell us to leave or reject us. it just sucks. cause basically, after we teach them, they have to choose salvation or damnation more or less. either get baptized or turned away when they know it's true. it kinda sucks, but when they accepted, wow! it is the best feeling in the world. my favorite thing to do is end the day on lesson 1 and they comite to pray and read! it is so cool! i feel so invigorated and ready to go! it is awesome!
so I have my first snake investigator. a snake is a g irl that likes and hits on you more or less. Raquele, she is thelma and ricardo's friend, she is 17 years old. and she scares the crap out of me! she is really nice and a really cute and she is always looking at me.. oh, i always get way nervous and start praying like crazy. hahaha, it's really funny, she's harmless, but i think it is because i'm not used to being around s, so she scares me. but don't worry :) it's no temptation because i am here to serve the lord:) i just think it is funny and figured you guys would like a good laugh. :)
so for the wedding, i let ricardo borrow my shoes, and having just been wearing one to save the others after these wear out, but i let him borrow my good ones and i haven't got them back yet. :) so hopefully i do:) but no worrys:) i know the lord is watching out for me and my feet:) and if i do have to get more in the future i can get them from the mission office. and yes, just keep sending the letters to the mission office. that will be easier.
sorry this is a freakin book! i just have alot to say i guess. yeah when i left the ctm i went to the mission office for instruction, then that night we ate dinner at sister's house then we slept at some other missionaries house. then the next day left for natal. umm.. oh yeah.. dad... for lunch today (lunch is the big meal here) we made hawiian haystacks, and we had Fresh pineaple and Fresh mango juice!!!! it was so good!!! Here you can buy 4 mangos for 2 heis, which is like a 1 dollar. and they are fresh and big and amazing!!!!!!!! and the pineaple are so good!!! wow!!! they have awesome fruit!! and the banana's are amazing to!!!!! Wow!!! well, sorry i didn't send a letter today , but i should get some mail tomorrow then i can reply to it and send one as soon as possible. I love you all!! thanks for all you do!!!!!

CAN YOU SAY 3?
Hello everyone!!
Thanks for all the e-mails!!!! yes, I am still alive and doing good:)today, (Monday) is my pday for the next 21ish months, unless they decide to change it. sorry i didn't send a letter, i didn't really have time to write but hope fully next week. and no i didn't get any packages or letters yet but I'm sure the mission home has stuff... but i have no idea when i will get it... umm..i sent one of my memory cards home, you should be getting it this week if you haven't already. I am in the city of Natal ( that means Christmas in port.). My Area is nova republica and my zone is pajuçara.
my new companions name is Elder Hyatt. he is from Idaho. he has been in the field for 1 yr. and 4 months. he is a really good missionary and a hard worker. I have to work to keep up with him, which is good:) He walks really fast:) which is also good. yes, my comp from the ctm is in joão pessoa along with 4 other missionaries from my district their. The language is really hard. i realized that i really don´t know much at all. I know enough to teach some of the lessons and bare my testimony, but if they have questions and start talking about something else i get completely lost. and when that happens for some dumb reason my brain starts to shut down and i have to fight
to stay awake.. which isn't good.. but hopefully I'll start to understand soon. soo have you guessed what 3 is yet...:) So my first week in the field has been pretty crazy.
Thursday we found a Huge tarantula in our house!! it was massive!! so we decided to burn it!:) i filmed it so you all can see! it was soo cool!! we burned it with a can of deodorant spray and a lighter, hahaha, it was really cool!
um.. oh, so 3 is the magic number because i had the
opportunity to baptize 3 people on Sunday!! it was a
really cool exp. Their names are Graça (an older lady)
and her grandson Emerson (who is 9 or 10 i think) and
a 13 yr. old boy named Thomas.I really like all of them
and was honored to baptize them. although.... it took
me 3 times to get Graça baptized. i felt so bad. the
first time a little bit of her hair stayed up, then the
2nd time she didn't bend her knees right and so it just
didn't work, then third time i almost baptized myself
to make sure she got under:) i felt bad though cause
she was embarrassed and baptism is a special thing.
but she is baptized so that's good. i am really starting
to love our investigators, i really hope they all make
it to baptism.
the weather is alot different then são paulo. it is
alot hotter and humid.when i stepped off the plane
i immediately thought of home. except it is just more
humid. it´s not to bad though, i mean I'm a little
wet all the time, but it's like working for brad in the
summer.. so i am used to it at least. my comp on the
other hand sweats like crazy:) it's kinda funny.
when would be a good time to do the Christmas call?
Dad~ thanks for the e-mails! i love to hear from you
no matter how short it is! i am glad that the brakes
worked on the plane and you didn't die!:) so do
you enjoy going and getting the planes and
testing them out?
Mom~ thanks so much for all the e-mails! i am always
happy to receive e-mails from you! i am doing really
well so don't worry! and yeah, i am going to miss
thanksgiving.. apple pie!... aaahhh..oh, and i found
out my going home date just in case you were curious.
Sept 23 2010
please tell grandma and grandpa Gubler thanks for the
letter! and thank you so much for all that you do and
for all of your support! I always loving hearing
from you all and seeing whats up! I hope you all
have a happy thanksgiving! think of me when you
take your first bite of apple pie okay:) I love you
all so much!!!! I hope you are all healthy
and well!!! Keep the Fé!! the church is
true!!!!!! read the book of Mormon everyday!!!!!
it will bless
your lives!! much
love!!!!!

I hope you are all healthy
and well!!! Keep the Fé!! the church is
true!!!!!! read the book of Mormon everyday!!!!!
it will bless
your lives!! much
love!!!!!

November 12, 2008 E-mail
Hey Family!!
thanks for all of the letters!!! I love getting e-mails form everyone and hearing how you are all doing! I have about 25 min left so i am going to try to write every one back but if i don´t i am sorry and just know that i love you all and that i am so grateful to all of you!!!
next week you probably won´t get an e-mail but i´m not sure. i leave for the field tuesday morning and so i don´t know when my pday will be or when i can write a letter so sorry.. but i will e-mail as soon as i get a chance.:) proselyting went well last week. nothing to exciting. we went to the "japanesse" town of são paulo and it was crazy. most of them spoke portuguese so that was good. we only met a few that didn't. I did get up some courage though and stood in front of about 10 old people sitting down on some benches and start talking about the gospel. it was really scarry but fun at the same time.... except they mostly ignored me and then one guy starting asking us questions in his mumbly portuguese and we couldn´t understand him. all we got was he was basically saying cristo was crucified so he can´t be alive. so i bore my testimony that Cristo lives and that we can live with him, then he more or less started to laugh at what i sayed so we just left and continued to talk to other people. it was fun though. thats a big thing you realize the first time proselyting, a ton of people turn you down. they are usually nice about it but sometimes not. so all you can do is bear your testimony and move on. i love it though! so this week i have to teach lesson 1 again, but it could possibly be to some non members so i am a little nervous cause that means that they will probably have real questions! yeah, that will be fun. um....
Hey mom, is it long enough yet?:) just kidding:) yeah so the pizza is freakin wierd!! tell tyson to enjoy all the pizza he can!!! oh and the ctm is putting up all these christmas lights and i won´t get to see them.. so thats kinda a bummer. oh, so one of the elders in my district figured it out.. don´t ask me why... but the way my mission will work out with all the transfers, i will be home sept 1, if i don´t extend another transfer. then i was like, hey i wonder when the gubler reunion is? so that would be pretty cool if i made it home in time. anyways... random thought:) oh so did you all know that Amen is a name for Jesus Cristo in the adamic language. interesting huh. one of my teachrs was reading Mormon Doctrine and it says that in their. i thought that was pretty cool.
So it has come time for me to get my ears lowered.:) i actually needed it about a week ago but the barber is full till friday. so i am way excited about that:) not... hahaha. so that will be an experience. my comp has got his hair cut twice and it is pretty interesting to watch cause the barber will talk to people outside the hall and not watch what he is cutting:) it´s pretty funny.. kinda... well.. thats about all for me. I love you all so much!!!!eu amo voces!

October 22, 2008 Letter
Dear Family
Hey! What's up? How's life in good old Ivins? How's the weather? Is it getting cold yet? How are Tator and Jack and the sheep doing?
So who wants to guess what I'm doing right now? Anyone.........Correct! I am on the bus back to the CTM. The Temple was so awesome! We went to the Sao Paulo Temple for the first time. It is soooo beautiful! They have a lot of stained glass windows which are amazing! And the chandelier in the Celestial Room was way amazing! I love that celestial room. It is so cool. And as always the spirit was way strong! I love the temple it is such an amazing place! I am so glad I got to go as early as I did so I could go a lot. Half of my district went their second time here in the CTM. I am so glad I had the opportunity to go a lot and to go with Mom and Dad! The temple really is such an amazing place! I'm sad I can only 1 time a week. Oh, and I found out I may not be able to go at all once I get in the field because there's not a temple in my mission. Sad huh. All of the Brazilians tell us that Joao Pessoa is really HOT! And that we will baptize like crazy. So I am really excited. I keep hearing good things about my mission so that's good. :)
I got Grandma and Grandpa Gubler's letter the other day. It was really funny. I had the hardest time reading Grandpa's letter. :) It's almost easier to read Portuguese! :) But I got through it and I loved it! Both of them! Needless to say Grandma's was a lot easier to read. :)
Today starts my 6th week! Crazy huh. I can't believe it has already been 6! And yet I totally can. :)
Oh CTM pizza.......let me tell you about it. Every Thursday night is pizza night. The first thing you need to know is that whatever it is.......it's NOT Pizza! We have a little saying that goes like this. Pizza night Thursday means Hershey squirt Friday! Oh and another one is.....Nothing goes down smoother or comes out easier than corn cheese pizza. :) They have this weird chocolate banana pizza to......it's odd. Funny story time :) One of the translators was sitting eating lunch next to some Americans and some Brazilians. the Americans said, "what kind of food is this? I dunno, must be Brazilian." And the Brazilians said "What kind of food is this? I dunno, must be American" So now you know that I have no idea what I'm eating sometimes! I swear they just throw random things together! And they have some really odd deserts. Some are really good but others are weird. They almost have a jello consistency but a really wierd texture. I dunno. It's weird.
Well, I just got done e-mailing everyone so now I don't know what else to write about......So Halloween is coming up and we are planning on buying candy and running around the hall dressed up saying "Trick or Treat" :) ha ha ha. We get pretty bored locked up in here all day. Well, family, I'm coming to the end of my page so...I love you all so much! Thanks for all your love and support and all of your letters! I miss you all so much but I know the Lord is watching over you and me. Give Tator a big hug for me, along with Whiskers. That is if she is still alive. :) Your always in my prayers!
I know the Church is true! Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ loves us so much and are always there for us! The Book of Mormon is true! Joseph Smith truly saw God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ.
Read your scriptures often! Pray A lot! Keep the Faith!

October 15, 2008-letter
Dear Family
Once again I am on a bus leaving the Temple, headed back to the CTM. So sorry this will probably be really sloppy.
It doesn't fell like much has happened but at the same time alot has happened. This has been the craziest, most stressful, and yet probably the most fun I've had so far on the mission. The reasoning, well let me begin....
On Friday we went proselyting! It was so much fun. But it was so stressful getting ready to go. Trying to figure out what I was going to say in Portagues, and just the fact that I had to walk up to random people and just start preaching freaked me out. It turned out good though. They took us to the busiest place in Sao Paulo,(btw-Sao Paulo is the 2nd biggest city in the world!) There was probably more people there than in all of Ivins! And it was like that the whole 3 hrs we were there! It was hard at first, but after getting rejected about 10 times we didn't cave and just went for it. It was so much fun! We gave out 2 BOM and probably 15-20 pass along cards, and were rejected countless times! It was so much fun though! I get to go next week and I can't wait!
But because of proselyting, thats all that I focused on and I didn't realize (actually, no one in my district did) that we had to teach a 15 min. lesson in Portagues on Saturday. And when one of our teachers found out, she chewed us out for about an hour and a half. But they let us use the weekend to study and then do the lesson's on Monday and Tuesday. And this is what really made my week stressful! We weren't supposed to speak any English, just Portugues. I figured I could do the lesson, I mean me and my comp, but I was terribly wrong! We did the lesson last night and it was so terrible. We completely messed up. I was forgetting my lesson plan in portagues. Then I forgot my lesson plan in english! It was so terrible. But luckily my comp is way good at portugues so we were able to get through it. Except for when we had to use the Bible. It was in portugues and we couldn't find anything. We probably wasted about 5 min just looking! So yeah, it was terrible :) And this Saturday we have to teach a 30 min. lesson to members in portuguse. That will be interesting. I am really glad I was able to go to the Temple today. It really helped to clam my soul and now I am not stressed. I was able to spend alot of time in the Celestial room too, so that was really nice to be able to sit there and pray and feel the spirit so strongly. I don't know if I told you but I got to help with a blessing last week, My DL asked for one and I was able to anoint. He hurt his arm and leg and was really worried about them healing. I was super nervous though.
I love you all so much!! Tell Grandpa Campbell hi for me and thanks for his prayers. Send my love! Thanks for being the best family ever!

HEY my family!!
How is life under the big red mountain! thanks for your e-mails!! I haven´t finished reading them but I will and hope fully i will have time to reply to all! so yeah, that cologne thing was way funny! it was seriously the biggest mess! sadly though, those comps are now gone out in the field. we all got really attached to our brazilian comps, especially after they bought us treats! but we now have new brazilian comps that came a week ago and they are really nice. one of them got homesick really bad last night so we gave him a blessing to help him calm down. the brazilians can get home sick really easy cause alot live right here in São Paulo.
Last night i had the oppurtunity to give a blessing. my teacher irma aline had a really bad migrane again and so she asked for a blessing. our DL gave me the oppurtunity to give the blessing. it was a really neat experience! Friday I get to go proselyting again! I am way excited! oh, and we are now 5 hrs. ahead of you because of day light savings here. we went forward an hour. so it is only 7:30 at home right now. crazy! oh and forget about the mail thing. last week i got a letter wednesday night and that sucked cause then i wouldn´t get any mail for a week. but i did get one from grandma and grandpa gubler. you can read about it in the letter i am sending to day. and you can read about the ctm pizza:) well, not much changes around here. oh, my teacher irmão Silva got robbed last night going home. crazy huh. he´s okay but they stole all of his stuff. junky huh. well family, i don´t know what else to wright about sooo.... oh actually, it´s really sad. one of the elders in my district, Elder Stoehr (stair) is being sent home because of a past transgression. We are all very sad cause he is a very cool guy, but we are happy for his decision to talk to the ctm pres. we all hope he can come back soon.
I have no idea if my comp. has a blog. i really doubt he does. his family isn´t into that kinda stuff really. and yes, he will be with me for the duration of the ctm. I´m excited. we need to improve on stuff but it´ll be good. oh, and i played the prelude music for our devotional last night on the violin. it actually went well:) at least all the brazilians i talked to after said i did good ... sooo. yeah:) oh and elder richard g. scott is coming to talk to us! that is way exciting!
Love you all so much!!!!!!

Oi!
Sup my family!!! how is everyone!!!!! thanks so much for the e-mails!!! and mom and dad, thank you so much for the gift certificate! You really didn't have to do that much, and since it is so much you can count that as my christmas present, cuase i have no idea what i would want. although i am missing 2 garment tops. i dońt know how though. the only thing i can think of is that we didńt mark two of them, and i wash my clothes with my comp, and sometimes one of our roomies throws his in to and his are not mraked. but he has the smiley face ones.... so i dońt know what happened. but i have enough garments to get me threw to washing and then a few extra so thats not a big deal... my last letter wasńt even in the inbox... sooo... ím really sorry mom. So did you go to the mountain? how was it? I loved General Conference!!! It was sooo amazing! and Dad, your talk sounds way good! I wish i could hear the whole thing. and the talk you are using, that one was amazing! I love pres uchtdorf. he's way good! I think my fav talk was the one about angels, and then the one that pres. uchtdorf gave about hope!
oh, so i got your letter last week on thursday. the day after my pday. so if you can remember the day you sent it, could you send it 2 days earlier so i get it right before my pday. then it will be easier to answer them and remember what everyone said. so this week was so hectic! I sent a letter so you can read all about it but i will tell you some stuff so you dońt have to wait. We went proselyting on friday! It was awesome!!!!! I loved talking to people and telling them my mesage. even though i was rejected countless times and i even had a lady litereally run away from me, it was awesome. Me and my comp gave out 2 bom. and probably 15-20 pass along cards in about 2 1/2 hrs. we ran into a member and she started talking to us(it was soooo hard to understand her. half the time i just nodded my head yes and looked at my comp.)then she started helping us give out pass along cards! it was soo cool. she got quiet a few people to take them. it was soo awesome! such a sweet lady! oh, and this drunk guy came up to us while i was talking to someone in my crappy português and he treid to get my comp to walk with him. then he tried to get him to smoke his cigarette! it was way funny! but luckily the irma (sister) jumped in and helped.
we also had to give a 15 min lesson in português last night that we totally bommed! it was soooo terrible! you can read all about it in my letter though. well, other than being completly stressed ím doing good. everything is pretty much the same. saddley enough our brazilian companheiros left yesterday for the field. and now i think we are getting american roommates unfortunatley. it́ll be good but i enjoy the brazilians. they help me learn.
so the ctm has a violin they let us play and i got the chance to ́rent` it out to practice to play prelude for a devo coming up. cool huh! I am so glad i get to! and my companion, elder keliiliki is amazing at music so he is arranging a piece with If you could high to kolob. It is soo cool! oh, and unfortunately he is hawaiin but he is from spanish fork. so he doesn't have a place in hawaii. oh and would you being willing to keep my comp in your prayers to. thanks family:)
Mikey, thanks so much for fixing my guitar dude! your rock! I really miss playing it! soo much! I really miss music too.
Ím really sorry everyone is sick. that sucks! seriously! i hope you all get well soon!!! I love you all soo much!!! thanks for your support and for being the best family in the world!!!
the church is true!!! Jesus cristo is our savior and redeemer and through him all things are possible.

Ola! From Brasil! How are you doing? How's the family doing? What's everybody up to? How's Tator & Jack? :) I am doing muito bam! (very well). I am staying very very busy. And the language is slowly coming. So far I have learned how to pray and bear testimony and it's only the 5th day! The spirit is truly helping!
The CTM (MTC in Portuguese) is very exciting! I have a super busy schedule. Everyday and every night I go to bed dea d. But I love it! Basically, I sit in a classroom all day. I have personal study time for 4 hrs then I have two different teachers that come at different times. I have gym for an hour every couple of days and I eat a lot of beans and rice for lunch and dinner every day! I have gained 5 lbs! Crazy huh. The food is pretty good. Believe it or not, I like beans :) But not alone - they have to be on rice.
São Paulo is a massive city! Very dynamic but beautiful at the same time. I will try to take many pics. Yesterday dragged on and on :) I was so tired! and it was raining all day so it was darker then usual. When 2:00 came around it felt like 7:00. It was crazy but it was a good day. My companion is very cool! He is from Springville. Well I have some grammar lessons I need to do so I better go. I love you all so much! Thanks for all of your love and support and for all you have done for me!

Dear Family,
Hello from Brazil!! It is really cool down here. The houses are really interesting. Some of them look like they are made out of wood and stuff we would throw away, and that's because they are. It's a little different. Pedestrians have no rights so you have to watch out for buses and cars, and motorcycles so you don't die:) You would not believe how many motorcyclists there are! It's crazy. They are weaving in and out of traffic. I'm just waiting for one to get hit.
Oh, I'm here and I'm safe. :) So the plane ride was so long!! I was going crazy! And I still am, I'm soooo tired. I only slept for about 1/2 of the 10 hr. flight, and they won't let us get any sleep till at least 8:00. So I barely have any energy to stand! :)
Oh, Mom, I need my yellow fever booklet thing. It's yellow and the lady had me sign it and stuff. I need it to come home in two years. The food here is interesting. Rice and beans :) plus other stuff.
My companion is Elder Keliiliki (pronounced Kay-lee-e-lee-key). He's Hawaiian. He was in SLC with us.
Thanks for the letters everyone! I loved them. :)
So apparently, everyone says it's easier to know Portuguese and then learn Spanish then the other way . :( Great huh. I am so lost when they speak in Portuguese, but it will come!
Give everyone my love! I love you all so much! Hey Mikey, make a few 3's in bball for me tonight. :)
Love you!!

Called To Serve!
So the Sunday after I got back from E.F.Y. my bishop told my mom that I should be expecting my mission call on Tuesday or Wednesday. So when she told me I started freaking out cause that was a week earlier than my Stake Pres. told me! So I was totally stoked, and then i realized that my little brother Dallin was gone to Timberline (scout camp) until Saturday. So I would have to wait almost a week to open my call.
Tuesday came along and no mission call. I wasn't to bummed cause i figured it would come Wednesday anyways. Then Wednesday came and went and no mission call. By that time i was wishing my Bishop hadn't told me it was coming early because now it wasn't here. I didn't have to work Thursday, so waiting until 2 o'clock to come around was driving me nuts. Finally it came and i ran over to check the mail box...
And There It Was!!!
Unfortunately I still had to wait till Saturday to open it. So in order to keep myself from opening it I had to stay busy. I was either out with friends all night or upstairs playing games to keep my mind off of it.
Slowly but surely Saturday finally came. So where am I going..............
Brazil Joao Pessoa Mission!
I will arrive at the Brazil Sao Paulo MTC September 17.
and I will be speaking Portuguese!!
So basically, I'm totally Stoked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

E.F.Y.

This is my E.F.Y. graduate shirt that I made to wear on the first day!

6 guys in my group colored their hair black on Thursday night back at the dorm. Zack, the kid sitting down had bright red hair! It was way funny.
this is our banner that we made for our group

This is Michael on Friday waiting to go to the dance!
Steady and Sure
Alright alright alright alright alright Hey!
(clapping)
EFY!!!
So this was my 6th and last year at E.F.Y. as a participant. I 'm so sad that it's over cause it was sooo much fun!!! Me, Michael, Dallin, Kendreck, and Devon all drove up to beaver Sunday night and stayed with my aunt and uncle, then drove to Provo Monday morning. It was so amazing! Michael was my roommate, and our company name was Common To Man. My favorite parts were the dances of course (basically because i got to dance with super hot young women!) and Thursday night which was testimony meeting. Thursday was the highlight of the week because your in church clothes the whole day and you do fun activities to invite the spirit. Then right before testimony meeting all the youth stand up and sing the efy medley, which I absolutely love! The spirit is always so strong and it's so amazing to see 1300 youth sing this song! Wow! I don't think there is anything better!
Oh, just as a side note... My mission call is coming soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm soooooo super excited!!!!!

Future Missionary
I am slowly becoming of age you might say. The days are slowly creeping by, and at the same time I can't believe how close it is getting. 3 of my friends have left or will be going with in the next week and a half. Our time to hang out and have fun is slowly running out. We are trying to cram in all we can, the last snowboarding trip, the last hang out. It's kinda depressing, but at the same time so very exciting to see the change taking place in their lives and how excited they are to go out and serve the lord. It's amazing what preparing for a mission can do to a group of rambunctious young men who have been friends since middle school. It is so amazing to see your friends change and to see the light of Christ in them. To see how they glow, and how strong in the spirit they become. I am so excited and sad at the same time because by the time i leave, they will all be gone. It's so exciting and kinda sad to think the last few months before i go, all my high school friends will be out there serving the Lord. (sad cause i won't really have any one to hang out with anymore, except for Michael, Dallin and Hesston:) ) but my time is soon coming. My papers are in progress and all i am waiting on now is my doctor appointments. I am super excited to get out there! As I study, I'm finding a desire to feast and know more. I want to know all I can about the gospel and to be the best missionary I can be.
